AMD taking Intel Market Shares
Jun/090
Don’t get me wrong, i’m not foolish enough to believe that any manufacturer is capable of dominating any market perminantely. Its inevitable that competitors will catch up and establish a strong presence, taking advantage of any weakness they see thus extending their longevity.
That said, when it comes to AMD and Intel, there is without a doubt a strong element of rivalry and competition, both of them marketing their latest offering as the next best thing.
Apparently over the last few months, AMD have slowly but surely been taking more and more Intel Shares. Something which Matthew Wilkins, iSuppli principal analyst for compute platforms, believes is due to the popularity of AMD’s Microprocessors.
Perhaps though, Matthew’s statements based on iSuppli’s calculations are a little misleading because they fail to take into account x86 chips in PC’s.

Jun/090
Just a quick mention of the torrent of Windows 7 builds that have leaked recently. As far as i can tell, these are just the Release Candidate with a new build number tacked on. In a word, ‘Fake’.
That said, there have been one or two genuine leaks as far as i can tell. Why have i come to that conclusion? because its on the Neowin front page of course!
See Windows 7 build 7227 leaks
It seems many of you are waiting for the RTM before you bother upgrading from the Release Candidate. Probably a wise decision.

The next 3.5 RC build of Firefox is expected to significantly improve performance in all areas.
If the past is anything to go by, Firefox with it’s catalog of Add-ons, support and almost cultural status should continue to be one of the most widely adopted alternatives to Internet Explorer, going from strength to strength as it establishes itself as one of the most iconic symbols of Open Source software.

He’s genuinely excited, and views this as something of a revolution. He was quoted as saying to the BBC
” “It’s like the square screen we saw all of our movies on in the early 1950s. Then The Robe came out in Cinemascope. And then came CinRam and Imax followed. That’s what [Natal] is.“”

Useless solution for ‘Bing’ Porn issue
Jun/090
The newly branded Search Engine Bing.com is a dream come true for any man or woman hooked on porn, allowing videos hosted elsewhere to be played within search results and although Microsoft have implemented a safe-search feature, it’s self defeating because should you search anything ‘innapropriate’ for children you are given the option to remove these filters.
On C.net we read about Microsoft’s temporary solution for the Bing Porn Issue, unfortunately it doesn’t work.
So for right now, we wanted to let people know that you can add “adlt=strict” to the end of a query and no matter what the settings are for that session, it will return results as if safe search was set to strict. The query would look like this: http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=adulttermgoeshere&adlt=strict (yes it is case sensitive).”
They also went on to say;
“we also are listening to customers, and some have told us they want more control and they want it now.”
